Story

Return to Bitter Creek.

Following the death of her older sister at the hands of a notorious serial killer known as the Bitter Butcher, Janet Jan returns to her hometown of Bitter Creek, WA to remember and mourn, but quickly finds herself in the middle of a new harrowing nightmare (probably).

Gameplay

Run, hide, die, restart.

• Hunch, Scunch and Swoosle
  • Beware every footstep as you sneak your way to safety, or run terrified from an a eccentric killer as you uncover secrets the town of Bitter Creek would rather stay buried. It's barely balanced!

• Commit Food Crimes 
  • Cram your pockets (and your face) full of eclectic items. From wet sandwiches to questionable bolt cutters, each new find could be the key to your escape.

• There's a Story, Maybe
  • Explore increasingly decrepit nooks and crannies for crumbs of  narrative information as you navigate your way to safety in level-based, checkpoint-spaced trial and error repetition.

• I Can Do It Quick
  • Find quicker routes, optimize your item usage and challenge yourself to faster runs with an in-game timer! Even I barely understand how it works.

• Calore Eternum
  • Finish the story to unlock the bonus Butcher Bloodbath mode! Think on your feet, hunt for secret cheats usable in either mode, and survive as long as you can while an ever-growing horde of Bitter Butchers try to stop you!

Purpose

It ain't that deep.

Inspired by games such as Night at the Gates of Hell and Stay Out of the House, as well as films like Suspiria and The House by the Cemetery, this game was created from the ground up as a fanservice shitpost over ~5 months for Twitch streamer BitterBits with their community in mind, and is not intended to be taken any kind of seriously.

As an exercise in futility and human meaninglessness, every model, animation, texture, sound and piece of music was created from scratch with tedious love, using self-captured resources with no assets or generative AI involved.

Even if none of the in-jokes land, hopefully the barebones stalker-horror gameplay is enough to make the experience tolerable for those not in the know. It's basically only being posted to BitterBits' community can easily access it.

Disclaimer

One and done.

This project, from the start, was intended to be played on a single night on BitterBits' stream, October 1st, 2025, but has nonetheless been updated significantly since with various fixes and quality-of-life changes and will NOT be updated further. Any remaining critical bugs are a you problem, not a me problem.

This has barely been tested and I don't know what I'm doing, sorry if it sucks. Enjoy anyhow!
